Kallan & Josh: A Real Wedding Story

August 20, 2026

For Kallan and Josh, their wedding day was more than a beautiful celebration. It was the beginning of a new chapter surrounded by the people, places, and memories that have shaped their story.

Their story began in the fall of 2015, not long after Kallan moved back to Minnesota from Madison, Wisconsin. Josh was living and working in Rochester at the time, while Kallan was settling into life in the Twin Cities. Their paths eventually crossed through mutual friends, and what began as a friendship quickly became something more.

Over the years, they built a life together filled with adventures, family, friends, and plenty of football Sundays. Even through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, they continued making memories and growing together.

In April 2021, against the stunning backdrop of Dream Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, Josh proposed. It was the beginning of their next adventure together--and eventually led them to their wedding day.

A Celebration Surrounded by Their Favorite People

Their wedding day was filled with the people who have been part of their story from the very beginning. The bridesmaids looked stunning in elegant white gowns, carrying vibrant bouquets filled with warm oranges, reds, and soft neutrals. The groomsmen complemented the look in classic black suits, creating a timeless and sophisticated wedding party.

From the ceremony to the reception, every detail felt personal and intentional. Beautiful floral arrangements brought warmth and color throughout the celebration, while the elegant setting kept the focus on what mattered most: Kallan, Josh, and the people they love. And, of course, there were plenty of moments of pure joy--from getting ready with their closest friends to celebrating together on the dance floor.

The Little Details That Made the Day Special

For Kallan, some of the most meaningful parts of the wedding were the personal details that made the day feel uniquely theirs. Her grandmother's compact case became a special part of her getting-ready routine. Her grandmother had gifted it to Kallan for her high school graduation, making it especially meaningful to have it with her again on such an important day.

Those are often the details that become the most treasured memories--the little pieces of family history that quietly become part of a new chapter. The couple also incorporated meaningful traditions throughout their celebration, creating a wedding that felt both timeless and completely personal.

Favorite Wedding-Day Memories

When asked about her favorite wedding-day memory, Kallan found it difficult to choose just one. Getting married, of course, was at the top of the list, but so was having everyone they loved together in one place. Their first dance was another unforgettable moment. They chose "You're the One" by Cody Johnson, a song that perfectly captured the feeling of the day. There were also the quieter moments: getting ready with loved ones, walking down the aisle, taking portraits together, and simply taking in the fact that they were finally married.

What Wedding Planning Taught Them

Planning a wedding taught Kallan an important lesson: wedding stress is real. But it also taught her to appreciate the people who helped make the process easier. Having a strong support system made all the difference. From family and friends to the vendors who helped bring their vision to life, surrounding themselves with people they trusted allowed them to enjoy the process instead of getting caught up in every little detail. Her biggest piece of advice for other couples? Communicate. It sounds simple, but being open about expectations, priorities, and what matters most can make a huge difference throughout the planning process.
